Can My Employer Submit Documents or Complete Steps on My Behalf?
Zinc is built around candidate-led submission of documents and completion of background check steps. When you are asked to provide documents or complete steps as part of your background check, you must do so yourself. Your employer or recruiter cannot perform these actions on your behalf.
### What You Are Responsible For
- Any documents requested (such as proof of qualifications, identity documents, or right to work evidence) must be uploaded by you directly through your Zinc profile.
- Your employer cannot upload these documents for you, even if they have copies.
- You must complete all verification steps and provide necessary evidence personally.
### What Recruiters and Employers Can Do
- Set up and configure your background check package.
- Monitor the progress and status of your checks.
- View your results once checks are complete.
- Contact Zinc to chase outstanding steps on your behalf.
However, recruiters and employers cannot:
- Upload documents into your check.
- Complete verification steps for you.
- Provide evidence or submit reference requests on your behalf.
### If Your Recruiter Has Changed
- If the original recruiter who set up your check leaves the company, another person at your employer can take over the administrative side.
- This change does not alter the responsibilities: you must still submit all documents, complete steps, and provide references yourself.
### If You Are Unsure What Is Needed
- If you are uncertain whether a specific check is part of your package or what is outstanding, you can contact Zinc support.
- Zinc support can check your profile and confirm exactly what documents or steps are needed from you.
