How to Conduct Multiple Criminal Checks for Candidates with International Histories in Zinc
In cases where you have lived in multiple countries over the past few years, you may need to conduct multiple criminal checks to understand your full international history. It can also be good in cases where you have only recently moved to your employment country but you want to conduct a thorough criminal check search on your previous country.
Zinc offers a multiple criminal check process at the package level to help you with those scenarios.
## Set up
You can easily set up the multiple criminal check process within a new package or existing package.
1. On the [Packages](https://app.zincwork.com/packages) page, click on the package you would like to enable this for.
2. Inside the package editor, find the area labelled **Criminal check**.
3. Switch the Location criteria from **Current residency** to **Multiple locations (multiple criminal checks)**.
4. Change the number of years you would like to search with a maximum of **10 years**.
If you do need this to be longer, please speak directly to your Account Manager or the Customer Success team via live chat or email to increase this for you.
Please note: Selecting a specific number of years does not guarantee that each country in your history will be searched for that full period. The actual time span searched depends on the regulations and available data in each individual country.
5. Press **Save check package** and request your candidates to complete their checks.

## Candidate's process
As soon as you have requested those checks, the candidate is notified to complete these through Zinc.
The candidate will be asked to confirm their address history, which is where the country for each criminal check being conducted will be found.
Please note that the standard is set at 6 months of residency for the candidate to qualify for a criminal check there. This was chosen because most countries have approximately a 180 day residency rule (including the UK which is 183 days). Until that point, most countries would deem the person a visitor, not a resident.
If you need this time frame to be reduced, please contact Account Management to adjust this for your packages.

After the address history is confirmed, when the candidate clicks into their Criminal Check, they will be prompted to complete a criminal check for each place they lived in the amount of years you specified.

Each criminal check has specific requirements, which are given to the candidate to complete on the platform. If you would like a breakdown on requirements and scope, you can find them [here](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/folder/861575f5-4-criminal-checks) on our Help Centre.
If the candidate is not located in that country anymore, the criminal check level may be different. If you do need any further specifics, [please get in touch](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/article/0b31f61a-how-to-contact-customer-support-at-zinc-live-chat-email-and-account-manager-information).
Once the candidate has completed all of their criminal checks, they will then be processed further. You can keep track of the checks on the candidate's report and you will be notified on Zinc once those checks have completed.
