Will My Current Employer Be Contacted After Submitting Employment References or Instant Verification?
## If you submitted employment references (referees)
- Any referee you’ve provided will receive a reference request.
- This could include your current employer **only if you provided their details as a referee**.
- The request will identify your prospective employer **by name**.
- No further details about your new employment, such as your new job title, start date, or other specifics, are shared with referees.
## If there was no option to submit a referee
- This means you completed **instant employment verification**.
- Instant employment verification uses **supported tax or government authority systems** to instantly verify up to **5 years** of your employment history.
- **No one will be contacted** if you did not provide an email address for a referee to be contacted at.
Instant Employment Verification through a tax or government authority is currently available only in these supported countries:
- United Kingdom (excluding Isle of Man or the Channel Islands)
- Spain
- Ireland
- India
- Netherlands
- Mexico
- Brazil
- Philippines
