How to Update Your Details After Submission of a Background Check
Once you've submitted your details for a check, you generally cannot update or edit the submission as it is now in progress with being completed/verified.
## Exception for references
The only exception to this is **reference check**, as you can [cancel the current referee and re-add the referee](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/article/eacd5a04-how-to-change-your-referees-phone-number-or-email-address-after-sending-a-reference-request) with updated details if you see the small trash can icon next to it. **If you don't see a trash can icon next to the reference, it cannot be changed.**

## If you need to change anything else
If you do need to change the submission or adjust any details for any other check besides these types of references, please contact our Support Team via email or live chat so they can reset the check for you to update your details.
