How to Use the Comments Section on a Candidate's Report
At the top of an individual candidate's report, you will find a section that you can use to write comments directly on the report. These comments cannot be deleted once they are added, making this section a great place to mark any internal actions done regarding the candidate's background check to maintain an audit trail on Zinc.
The Comments section can also be used to record that a document has been seen when there is no specific verification tickbox available on the report.
You don't have to use this comment section, but it is recommended for various purposes:
- To record that a "consider" result has been provided for a qualification check and that you have reviewed and approved this.
- To document when, how, and by whom an imposter check for a right to work check was conducted.
- To note that the candidate report has been downloaded.
- To acknowledge to other team members that you have reviewed and approved the entire report for next steps.
The Comments section is designed for notes that apply to the entire candidate report. If you need to add notes related to a specific reference, such as confirming a referee's identity, recording employment gap verification, or attaching supporting documentation for a reference, you should do this on the reference card itself using the Activity tab. Notes added there are also permanent, timestamped, and included in the downloaded PDF.
Please do not use the comments section to request actions or updates from the Zinc support team, as these comments are not monitored by the support team. Instead, contact support through email or live chat for any assistance.
You may sometimes see comments from the Zinc team added to your candidate's report to inform you that a criminal check was withdrawn or that additional information was provided by a referee. These comments are solely for your documentation and to provide an audit trail on actions taken. There is no need to reply to these Zinc team comments.
