Surfacing International Criminal Check Results
This is a country-specific feature that enables the display of granular criminal record information for specific countries on the report page. The list of countries is controlled by Zinc.
## When an international criminal check is run
Criminal checks are generally **country-specific**, meaning checks are run based on the candidate’s residence and the parameters set in your package.
If your package is set up as a **multiple locations criminal check** package, an **international criminal check** will be run when:
- The candidate completes their **address history** with multiple locations, and
- The candidate has lived at the international address(es) for **at least 6 months**, and
- Those international addresses are within the **number of years** you’d like the criminal checks to cover.
## Enabled countries
For any given country, the level of detail shown in the results depends on whether the check is conducted in the candidate’s **current country of residence**. This is because we apply different criminal check service levels for a candidate’s **current** versus **former** countries of residence.
Some service levels provide access to **publicly available data**, which can be viewed directly by recruiter users. Others use **restricted data sources**, where detailed results are limited or unavailable to recruiters. This is typically due to legal or access restrictions within those countries.
If a recruiter cannot see detailed results for a particular country, we recommend **contacting the candidate directly** to request their own detailed documentation within a maximum of **60 days** of the check being **completed**. In most cases, this will be in the form of an official **criminal record certificate** issued by the relevant authority.
