Hungary Criminal Record Check Process and Requirements
## Who is the source of criminal check data in Hungary?
Administrative and Electronic Public Services Central Office (KEKKH)
## What is the process in Hungary?
1. Request the check from the ATS or your Zinc account.
2. Follow the automated instructions to provide some personal details, a copy of your ID, and an Application Form in a dynamic web form.
3. Zinc submits the request to the authorities.
4. Zinc receives the results (digitally) and provides a signed digital report.
5. You receive a text to say the process is complete.
## What details are required from the candidate to submit the check?
- First Name
- Last Name
- Birth Date
- **Specific Consent Form**
- The authorisation letter can be filled out digitally; however, the candidate’s signature should be wet (signed with a pen). The letter must be signed by two witnesses as well and the witnesses' part can be filled by hand or digitally but the signature must be mandatorily wet (signature with a pen). The document should be clear scanned copy and not captured images.
- **Passport/ID Copy**
- For Citizens: Hungarian ID copy both sides (Szemelyi Azonosito: Recommended!) or Hungarian Passport (an expired copy is acceptable).
- For Non-Citizens: Passport copy or EU ID card both sides (an expired copy is acceptable)/Valid Hungarian Residence Permit.

## What is covered in the criminal check?
The copy of the Certificate of Good Conduct (HATÓSÁGI ERKÖLCSI BIZONYÍTVÁNY) issued by the Administrative and Electronic Public Services Central Office (KEKKH) has nationwide coverage including citizens and foreigners over 18 years of age.
The issuance of the certificate is subject to the candidate’s explicit consent along with a specific consent form and is intended to serve one particular purpose indicated during the application process.
The Certificate is requested and collected by our in-country partner who will visit the Administrative and Electronic Public Services Central Office (KEKKH). Our partner has been thoroughly vetted according to our highest Partner Management policies and compliance standards.
The Administrative and Electronic Public Services Central Office (KEKKH) reserves the right to issue or reject the issuance of the certificate after careful assessment and scrutiny of the nature of the request.
The Certificate contains information for all of the following criminal convictions or offences, except those deleted by rehabilitation laws or considered spent:
- Offences against the person (sexual offences, burglary, robbery)
- Fraud and forgery
- Offences against property: theft and handling stolen goods; criminal damage: 'rongálás'
- Crimes against the state
- Crime against humanity
- Crimes against the administration and public justice
- Crime against law and order
- Military crime
- Economic crimes
- Drug offences
- Motoring offences
- Intentional crimes
- Offences against children and family (e.g. pornography; sexual abuse; etc)
The legal prescription of a sentence varies, depending on the type of offence committed and the sentence pronounced.

## Period covered by the check
The records are kept based on the legal prescription and rehabilitation periods applicable for each type of conviction provided by the local regulations in Hungary.
