What "Consider" and "In verification" Mean on Reference Status Tags

These tags show where each of your references is up to. Neither one means something has gone wrong. ## "In verification" (grey) Your reference request has been sent and we're waiting for your referee to complete it. **There's nothing you need to do.** Whilst a reference is in verification, we'll follow up with your referee for you — we contact referees up to five times. If it's been a while, it can help to let your referee know to look out for our email, including in their spam or junk folder. If they can't find it, see [My Referee Isn't Receiving Reference Request Emails](https://help.zincwork.com/article/6385d95d-my-referee-isnt-receiving-reference-request-emails). ## "Consider" (pink) Your referee has completed the reference, but something in it needs your new employer to take a closer look before they make a decision. **This doesn't necessarily mean anything negative.** It simply means the reference has been flagged for your employer to review. ### What to Do You don't need to do anything straight away. Your employer may contact you for more details to help with their review. If you've received an email about a date mismatch, see [How to Resolve Date Mismatches in Your Employment References](https://help.zincwork.com/article/31367bf3-how-to-resolve-date-mismatches-in-your-employment-references). ## Other Reference Tags If you're seeing a different tag, these articles explain what it means: - [What to Do If Your Reference Request Bounced](https://help.zincwork.com/article/2bc0b2dc-what-to-do-if-your-reference-request-bounced) - [What Does the 'Declined reference' Status Mean?](https://help.zincwork.com/article/4f182bcc-what-does-the-declined-reference-status-mean)
