Will I Be Charged If I Delete or Cancel a Check Request?

Whether you are charged for a cancelled check depends on when you cancel: - **If cancelled before the candidate starts the check:** No charge will apply. - **If cancelled after the candidate has started:** You will be charged for any checks that had started before cancellation, as those costs have already been incurred. Even if a request shows as "cancelled," charges can still apply for checks already underway when the cancellation was submitted. ## You must cancel requests promptly to avoid charges If a candidate is no longer proceeding, you must cancel their check request as soon as possible to prevent unwanted charges. Until you cancel: - Charges may apply if the candidate completes the check. ## Refunds for PAYG customers If you are on a pay-as-you-grow (PAYG) plan and have cancelled a check, Zinc will review the charge and refund if applicable. Refunds apply if the check was cancelled before the candidate started but was already billed. Contact your account manager or accountmanagement@zincwork.com to raise this. ## Cancelled checks and usage counts for contracts For contract customers: - Cancelled checks are not counted in your usage. - Checks marked as cancelled are filtered out when usage is calculated for renewals or spend reviews. ## Disputing charges in exceptional circumstances In unusual cases, charges may be reviewed and potentially disputed. Contact account management for assistance. ## What happens when you click “Cancel check” When you cancel a check request for a candidate: - All background checks for that candidate are cancelled immediately. - The candidate is removed from your active requests on the Recruit page. - Report links become inaccessible and will no longer appear on your dashboard. - Historical data and previous check results for that candidate will no longer be visible. Canceling is final regarding visibility and access to reports and data.
