Document Attachment Uploads: Reviewing References Flagged "Full Details Not Provided"
Some referees reply with a PDF or Word document instead of using Zinc's reference link — often because their organisation blocks external links or has its own fixed process for issuing references. When that happens, our AI reads the attachment and pulls the required details onto the platform automatically.
Sometimes the file is missing a required detail — such as an end date or job title — or the file itself can't be read. In these cases, you'll now see the original document directly on the reference card, so you can review it and act straightaway.
## What's Changed
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| If AI extraction couldn't complete, the reference was routed to our Support Team without your visibility. | The reference is marked **Consider** with a second badge, **Full details not provided**, and the referee's original document is uploaded to the reference card for you to review. |
Our Support Team is no longer involved for this subset of references — you review and action them directly from the candidate report. The one exception is anything raising a safeguarding concern, which always still goes to a human on our Support Team.
## Where to Find It
Open the candidate report and look at the reference card. If a reply couldn't be fully processed, you'll see a **Full details not provided** badge next to the **Consider** result.
## How to Review a Flagged Reference
1. Expand the reference card on the candidate report.
2. Select the **Check details** tab — you'll see the referee's original document here.
3. Confirm the details in the document match your candidate.
4. Review the reference as you normally would.
### If the details are sufficient
Add a note or mark the reference as reviewed, the same way you would for any other reference. See [Adding Notes and Reviewing References on a Candidate Report](https://help.zincwork.com/article/1af6858a-adding-notes-and-reviewing-references-on-a-candidate-report) for the full steps.
### If something's missing or doesn't look right
Leave a note explaining what you've found, or contact the referee directly to request the missing information.
If you can't see the whole email address for the referee, contact our Account Management Team who can make this visible for your company.
## What Counts as an Attachment for This Feature
This applies only to referee replies that include a PDF or Word (.doc/.docx) file where our AI can't confirm all the required details. A reference sent as plain email text with no file attached stays on the current Support Team-handled path if it fails.
## Questions?
**Can candidates see the uploaded document?**
No. It's confidential by default and visible only to you as the recruiter.
**Will our Support Team still get involved?**
Not for this subset of references — you'll review and follow up directly from the report card. Anything raising a safeguarding concern is the one exception, and always still goes to a human on our Support Team.
