How to Integrate Zapier with Zinc for Automated Background Checks

**Please note that CV checks are only available directly on Zinc. Zapier cannot currently be used with packages containing CV checks.** Zapier is a building block that can connect thousands of different applications to Zinc that we don't have a direct end to end integration with. Please note that to use Zapier, this is an external software that you would need to purchase and interact with for a successful integration. ## How to integrate Zapier with Zinc ## Step 1: Select your app Head to https://zincwork.com/integrations-zapier and scroll down to find the search bar and popular workflows. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-1.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-1.png) You can either search for the app you want to connect to Zinc or select one of the popular workflows from the list. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-2.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-2.png) ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-3.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-3.png) If you pick an app from the search function, you will be asked to sign into Zapier to create a new workflow. You can also pick one from the Popular workflows list and select **Use this workflow**. ## Step 2: Set up your trigger To send out a check request for example, you will need to use an app like Personio or BambooHR as your **trigger**. In this example, we will use **Recruitee.** Once selected, a window will appear for you to set up your trigger. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-4.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-4.png) You will need to select your Trigger event which for this example will be **Candidate Moved to Stage**. After, just connect your Recruitee account to Zapier. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-5.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-5.png) Press **Continue**. Next, you may need to configure some steps depending on the app you pick so set these up how you need to. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-6.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-6.png) Finally, test your trigger. This test is optional but recommended to make sure the trigger is working correctly. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-7.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-7.png) ## Step 3: Set up your action The **Action** will be **Send Request** through Zinc. This means once you move a candidate to a certain stage in one app, it will trigger an action of starting background checks on Zinc. If not done already, you will need to connect your accounts to Zapier via an API key. For Zinc, you can grab your API key through the steps [here](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/article/a7ed573f-how-to-generate-an-api-key-for-your-ats). For other applications, follow the process in the Zapier window to generate an API key to connect accounts to Zapier. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-8.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-8.png) Once connected, start your set up. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-9.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-9.png) First, choose the Action event of **Send Request** and sign into your Zinc account. After you've completed this step, press **Continue.** With Zinc, you will need to select the **Package** from Zinc you want to use for candidates. If you haven't already done so, you can learn how to set up a package [here](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/article/0576f8aa-how-to-create-a-new-check-package-in-zinc). For any candidate details you need to provide from your app to Zinc, enter **/** and select from the list the corresponding data that matches that required field. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-10.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-10.png) Once completed, press **Continue**. You will then be asked to test your step. If there's any issues, you will be informed here and you can retest or skip the test whenever you are ready to move on. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-11.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-11.png) Once you're happy with how your Zap works, click **Publish**. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-12.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-12.png) That's it! You've now set up a Zap that will connect Recruitee or any other app you want to use to send new check requests with Zinc. ## Step 4: Repeat if necessary If you want to add check results from Zinc back into another app, you will repeat the steps above of making a new Zap but with Zinc as your **trigger** and your app you wish to add these completed checks back into as your **action.** This will be a new Zap so open up a new workflow to start this process. Complete your Setup with your Trigger event of **Checks Complete.** ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-13.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-13.png) Test your trigger again to make sure it's working correctly. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-14.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-14.png) ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-15.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-15.png) Now, move to your **Action**. Our **Action** will be with **Recruitee** again. Click into Action to start the setup. In Setup, select your **Action event** which will be **Update Candidate** in this example but this will depend on the app you select. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-16.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-16.png) Next, Configure to add your Account, and any required data points that you need to pass from Zinc to Recruitee. As mentioned, this will depend on the app you pick. ![zincwork_hc_images/zapier-17.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/zapier-17.png) Finally, test your workflow. Once you're happy with how this Zap works, click **Publish**. Congrats! You've now successfully set up a Zap or two to automate your checking process with Zinc.
