I'm Getting an Error 500 When Submitting My Check: Causes and Requirements

The error 500 code appears when part of the submission has failed during document upload. Before contacting support, work through the following steps. ## Check your file format and size The document you are uploading must be: - In PDF, PNG, or JPEG format - Under 5MB ## If you see “statusCode 700” / “700: E_ERROR” Sometimes the form shows an HTTP 500, but in your browser’s Network tab the response body may show something like `statusCode: 700` with the message `700: E_ERROR`. This is typically consistent with an upload processing failure—follow the steps below. ## Refresh the page and try again Refresh the page for the relevant section of your form, then re-upload your documents. ## Re-convert and compress your document If your file meets the above requirements but the error persists, the issue may be caused by how the file was generated. Try the following: 1. Re-convert your document to PDF using a PDF converter or export tool (if you’re uploading images, try converting/combining them into a single PDF) 2. Compress the resulting PDF using a file compression tool before uploading 3. Re-attempt the submission This resolves the error in most cases where format and size requirements are already met. ## Still seeing the error?
