Candidate Consent and Where Candidates See Zinc's Privacy Policy

## Candidate consent for background checks Zinc does not collect consent from the candidate to conduct the background checks through our portal. As Zinc is the **Data Processor** and **our customers are the Data Controller**, it is the **customer’s responsibility** to collect consent from the candidate. In some instances, such as for DBS checks, Zinc does collect consent from the candidate in order to meet certain additional obligations placed on us by legislation. However, this does not replace the customer's obligation to collect the initial consent. Additionally, Zinc collects consent from candidates to store the data required to keep their accounts operational (like their name and email address), but this is separate to the customer's obligation to collect consent for the background checks to be conducted. Zinc also does not determine the lawful basis for processing personal data. As the Data Processor, we act on behalf of our customers, who are the Data Controllers, and therefore, decisions on which lawful basis to use rest entirely with customers. ## Where is the privacy policy shown to candidates? Our privacy policy is shown to candidates in the last page of **Confirm your details** section for all candidates using Zinc. ![Candidate Consent and Where Candidates See Zinc's Privacy Policy1](https://zinc-fini-resource-storage.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/Candidate+Consent+and+Where+Candidates+See+Zinc's+Privacy+Policy+1.png) The candidate privacy policy can also be found here: https://zincwork.com/privacy.
