How Zinc Verifies Non-UK Addresses for the Address Check
The first flow for the address check is a **text-based address search**. The current address is collected, alongside your name history, and date of birth. A search is conducted via our certified IDSP in authoritative sources: credit agencies, national postal, and electoral lists for matches. The search will return if an identity exists at that address, the strength of match, and will return connected addresses over a five-year period. **The check would be complete from this point if a match can be found.**
If no matches can be found via the text-based address search, a physical document collection process is shown to you or requested via email after the check has been processed by the text-based search.
If you are emailed, the email will come from **checks@zincwork.com** and will have the subject line of **Information about your address check.** It will look like the below:

The check will be marked as **Consider** on Zinc until the document has been provided by you and successfully processed by Zinc through manual review.

## Acceptable address proof documents
You are shown a list of options for the types of acceptable physical address proof documents, including:
- **Bank Statement**
- **Phone Bill**
- **Utility Bill (like gas, electric, internet, or water)**
- **Mortgage Statement**
- **Government Letter**
- **ID Document**
- **Pension statement or Property tax letter**
- **Letter from a bank or utility company**
## Document requirements
- This document need to be issued in the **last 3 months** to be accepted.
- It must be either a photo/scan of the physical document or a PDF copy.
If you cannot provide one of these documents, you should let our Support Team know directly and we can work with you to see if there's an alternative solution.
## What the document must show
When you send the document, make sure we can clearly see:
- **The Candidate's Full Name**
- **The Candidate's Current Address as Provided on Zinc**
- **The Type of Document**
- **The Issue Date**
## Manual verification and outcome
These documents are then manually verified by our Support Team and the team will contact you if we need alternative documentation or if we need you to resubmit the check via the platform.
Once those checks have been reviewed and accepted, the check will be marked as clear and the check will be completed.
