What to Do When Your DBS Update Service Has Expired or Your DBS Certificate Is Missing
Once your DBS Update Service has expired, you'll need a new DBS check before you can register for the Update Service again.
If you don't have your old DBS certificate, you will need a new DBS check so you can register for the Update Service again as your employer is required to see your original certificate.
To request a new DBS check:
1. Select **No** when asked **Are you subscribed to the DBS Update Service?**
2. Request a new DBS check (this option will display after you select **No**)
Once you've submitted a new DBS check and you've received your certificate, you can register for the [Update Service](https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service) again to be subscribed to the Update Service.
