Germany Criminal Check - Candidate Guidance for Zinc Users

## How to submit your criminal check in Germany ## Step 1: Log in or create your Zinc account Once your employer requests a criminal check, you will need to log in to your Zinc account. If you do not already have an account, you must create one. Once logged in, confirm the following details: - Your full name (including name history if applicable) - Your date of birth - Your country of residence: Germany - Address history for the past 5 years - Your consent ## Step 2: Obtain your criminal certificate When you click to start your criminal check for Germany on Zinc, you will find a message on the platform. ![zincwork_hc_images/germany-criminal-check-candidate-guidance-1.png](https://storage.googleapis.com/public-fini-assets/zincwork_hc_images/germany-criminal-check-candidate-guidance-1.png) To proceed, you will need to visit the [Bundesjustizamt website](https://www.bundesjustizamt.de) and obtain your criminal certificate. **Note:** To collect your certificate, you will need to present a valid identity document. The documents accepted for this purpose are determined by the Bundesjustizamt, not by Zinc. If you are unsure which documents are accepted — for example, if you do not yet have your electronic residence permit (eAT card) — contact the Bundesjustizamt directly or visit your local registration authority (Einwohnermeldeamt) for guidance before attending in person. If you have any other issues with this process, please contact the Bundesjustizamt directly. ## Step 3: Upload your criminal certificate to Zinc When you have your criminal certificate, you can access your Zinc account again using the steps provided on Zinc, or you will be notified via email with an upload reminder. Once your document is uploaded, click **Upload document**. All done! You have now completed everything you need for the German criminal certificate process. ## Step 4: Wait for your results to be added to Zinc After uploading your certificate to Zinc, the Support Team will review the document and add the results of your criminal check to Zinc for your visibility. This may take a few days to process. Once completed, you will be notified automatically.
