What is a Self Certification Check and How is it Used?
A self certification check is a flexible check which can be configured to ask any questions you wish or have candidates provide a document or complete any form of document you require.
For example, if you need candidates to provide the below:
- HMRC Employment History Report (https://www.gov.uk/get-proof-employment-history)
- Proof that the candidate has completed a course
- Experience letters or payslips from candidates
- Complete their I-9 forms for the [United States right to work](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/article/adf7b36d-form-i-9-and-e-verify-united-states-right-to-work-process-including-remote-document-review) check.

This check is used for a wide variety of use cases such as fit and proper tests for [SMCR requirements](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/article/b82bb68f-background-checking-requirements-for-smcr-compliance-in-uk-financial-services), integrity checks, or Form I-9 checks in the United States for Right to Work checks.
All you need to do is toggle on the Self Certification check on Zinc and pick your type of check.
The check can be tailored to fit your needs. To learn how to set up the custom upload option click [here](https://help.zincwork.com/hc/hm54ky7yrc/article/2f030200-how-to-set-up-a-custom-upload-self-certification-check) for more information.
