How to Complete Your Identity Check: Step-by-Step Guide
## Step one: Select the issuing country for your document
The first step will be select the issuing country for your document you want to use to see which documents we can accept.
Generally, this includes valid (not-expired) documents like a **passport** and **nationality identity card** but it will depend on the specific country.

## Step two: Choose the document type
After selecting the country, you will see what documents you can submit and will be asked to select one of the provided options.
Click the specific option for your identity document.
Once you've selected your document type, you may be shown some instructions on how to best submit this.
- **Scans and photocopies are not accepted**
- **Show all details — including the bottom 2 lines of a passport**
- **All details must be clear — nothing blurry**
- **Move away from direct light — no glare**
- **The photo should clearly show your document**
After, follow the instructions on screen to move to your smartphone for the live photo process by clicking **Continue on phone**.

## Step three: Take your document photos
By clicking **Continue on phone**, you will be shown some instructions on how the process will work.
First you will generate a secure link for your phone, then open the link to complete the check, and finally return to your computer or this page to finish with the check.

Click **Get secure link** to start.
You will then be asked to scan a QR code which you can do with the camera on your smartphone or you can copy a link to send to your phone or text the link to yourself.



After sending this to your mobile device, keep this window **open** so you can go back to this page after you finish.
On your mobile device, once you've accessed the link, you will be directed to this page.

1. Press **Continue** and you may be shown some guidance on how to submit your identity check using the instructions mentioned above.
2. Press **Continue** once you've read through the guidance. This guidance page should only come up for passport submissions.

3. You will need to allow camera access which may come up when you press **Continue** or you may need to allow this within the settings of your device.
4. Press **Allow** if this comes up on your device.


After, you will be asked to present your document, so position your passport photo page inside the frame or the front of your driving license/national identity card/residence permit.

After taking this image, you will be asked to review your image so just make sure it show all details, all details are be clear, there's no glare, and the photo clearly shows your document.
If you need to retake it, press **Redo.** If you are happy with the submission, press **Upload**.

If you chose to provide a driving license/national identity card/residence permit, you will then be asked to provide a photo of the back side of this card.

Follow the same instructions to take this image and once you are happy, press **Upload** to continue.
## Step four: Take a selfie
After taking a photo of your physical document, you will be asked to take a selfie to go along with your identity check for verification purposes.
We require a selfie to make sure that the face in the selfie matches the face in the identity document.
You will need to remove your glasses if needed and make sure you face forward with your eyes visible.

You will next be asked to **allow camera access** again.

1. Press **Continue** and you should be prompted on screen or you will need to enable this in your device settings.
2. Then, you will need to take your selfie. Make sure your entire face fills the frame provided and that your whole face is visible. Double check that your selfie is presentable as your employer will be able to see this selfie **including what is not included in the provided face frame**.
3. Review your selfie with those suggestions in mind. If you need to retake it, press **Redo.** If you are happy with the submission, press **Upload**.

That's it! You have now completed the process on your device. Now head back over to your computer or your other browser window to complete the check.

Once you head back to your original device, you should see **Identity check submitted**.
