How to Resubmit Your Personal Details After a Mismatch in the Identity Check for Your DBS Check

If you receive an email asking you to re-enter your personal details, it means there was a mismatch between the information you submitted and what was read from your ID document during your identity check. This is straightforward to fix — follow the steps below. ## What To Do 1. **Check your email.** You'll have received a message explaining that your details need to be re-entered. It will tell you which field didn't match — for example, your date of birth or your name. 2. **Return to your request page.** The **Confirm your details** section will show as **Complete now →**. Click through to start. 3. **Read the information screen.** Before you re-enter anything, you'll see a screen that tells you exactly what was mismatched — for example, "The first name you submitted doesn't match your document." Make sure you have your ID document to hand. 4. **Re-enter your personal details.** You'll need to go through the **Date of birth** and **Name history** steps again in full — this confirms all your personal information, not just the field that was flagged. Your address history is saved, so you won't need to re-enter that. We'll highlight the specific piece of information that didn't match and show you what you previously entered, so you know exactly what to correct. 5. **Submit.** Once you submit, your checks will continue automatically. ## Why Did This Happen? The details you originally entered were compared against the information on your ID document by our identity verification system. If something didn't match — for example, a name that appears differently on your document — the check flags it so it can be corrected before your application progresses. This doesn't mean your application has failed. It just means one piece of information needs to be confirmed. ## What About My Other Checks? Any checks that were waiting on your details will be paused while you resubmit. They'll show a **Waiting for updated details** status. Once you've re-entered and submitted your details, they'll carry on as normal. Checks that were already completed are not affected. ## I'm Not Sure What To Enter Enter your details exactly as they appear on the ID document you used for your identity check. If your name appears differently across documents (for example, a maiden name vs a married name), use the name shown on the document you submitted. If you're still unsure, contact the organisation that sent you the request — they'll be able to help.
