Scotland Criminal Check Timeline and Process Overview

Once you have submitted your Scotland criminal check details with Zinc, it will be processed by Zinc. ## Zinc reviews requirements Our team checks the submitted information to ensure it is complete against the check's requirements. - **If we have everything**: The criminal check is submitted to Disclosure Scotland to receive a Basic Disclosure Certificate. - **If we don't have everything**: The process is paused and we request any missing information directly from you. Once the missing information has been provided, it is submitted to Disclosure Scotland to receive a Level 1 Disclosure Certificate. This is a manual process so it can take a few business days to be reviewed by our team from when it was originally submitted. ## Disclosure Scotland processes the request When all the information has been provided, it is automatically submitted to Disclosure Scotland to be processed. The average turnaround time for this check to be completed is 18 business days once all the required information has been provided. ## Disclosure Scotland issues a certificate You are notified by Disclosure Scotland via email that the level 1 disclosure is ready and can be viewed for 14 days. ### Share your Disclosure You can share this certificate with your employer if needed within this time window. When Disclosure Scotland asks for an email address and phone number for you to share your Online Certificate, you will need to enter the employer’s contact details (i.e., whoever you want to share the certificate with). ## Zinc adds the results There can be delays from when the candidate receives their certificate to when Zinc has the results. When the results are available, we will automatically add the results of this check into Zinc on your report for review. You will see either a **Clear** or **Match Found** result. With a Match Found, please speak with your employer directly if they want to review your certificate, as Zinc does not hold this information.
