Qualification Checks with Zinc: Verification Types, Methods, and Candidate Process
With Zinc, we offer qualification checks to verify your educational history.
## Types of qualifications Zinc verifies
- **Academic qualifications** including university degrees like undergraduate, master’s, or PhD
- **Professional qualifications** include any courses or memberships you have taken that are relevant to your career, such as an accounting register or a HubSpot course
In the package, you can specify **how many** academic and/or professional qualifications are required and each check is charged individually.
## Verification methods
We offer two types of verification methods.
### Certificate matching
- In this method, Zinc confirms that your provided information matches the uploaded certificate. This can typically be verified instantly.
- When processed, you will have either a **Clear** or **Consider** result.
- You will also find your certificate on the check if provided (this is available for 120 days after you submit the check or 180 days if the request is not completed).
- **If enabled**, Zinc will automatically verify with the institution when the certificate matching shows mismatches. You can adjust this when creating your package.
- With a **Consider** result, once all checks are back, you can click the following to signify this was reviewed.
### Verify with the institution
- Zinc confirms with the institution directly if they have your record and results and will provide this to Zinc on your report.
- We complete this process with our education checking partner to assist us with the verification.
- This process can take typically **eight days** but can vary depending on the institution and the country of the check.
- When completed, you will have a **Clear** or **Consider** result with what you supplied compared to what was verified with the institution.
- You will also find your certificate on the check if provided (this is available for 120 days after you submit the check or 180 days if the request is not completed).
- With a **Consider** result, once all checks are back, you can click the following to signify this was reviewed.
## Candidate’s process
### Certificate matching
With Certificate Matching, you will select the type of qualification you are providing, either academic or professional.
1. Provide your details of type of degree, start and end dates, country of study and your university name.
2. Upload your proof if you have this such as a certificate copy.
3. Provide the subject of study, certificate date, and the grade or result.
Once submitted, the check will be processed.
**If enabled on the package**, Zinc will automatically verify with the institution when the certificate matching shows mismatches and will prompt you to come back into Zinc to provide further details. We will notify you of this via email.
### Verify with the institution
With verifying with the institution, the submission process is similar to the above of having you provide required information.
This may involve you completing some consent forms which are required for the submission to proceed.
Once the check is submitted, we will proceed with the verification but if we do need anything further from you, we will contact you via email to provide any required additional information.
If we've contacted you, you will find this status of **Additional info requested** on your progress panel on your report.
