Title Differences Between Documents Are Not Name Changes

Titles such as Mrs, Mr, Miss, Ms, Mx, or Dr are honorifics. They are not treated as part of a candidate's first name for identity verification. If one identity document includes a title and another document does not, this difference alone should not normally cause the identity verification check to fail. For example, a passport showing the first name without "Mrs" and a driving licence showing "Mrs" before the first name should be treated as a title difference, not a different first name. Candidates should enter their legal name as requested in the check. They should not add a title difference as a previous name, name variation, alias, or name change. Previous-name history should only be used for real legal name changes or names previously used, such as a maiden name, married name, deed poll name, or another legal name history entry. If a candidate is asked to resubmit identity documents, the reason is more likely to be another document requirement or image issue, such as glare, blur, cropping, missing front/back images, an unsupported document, an expired document, or details that are not visible. The candidate should follow the resubmission instructions and upload clear photos of the original document with all details visible.
