Jersey: Acceptable Documents for Right to Work Verification

To perform a right to work check in Jersey, the following documents can be accepted. ## Accepted Passports - **Jersey variant British passport + Jersey Registration Card** - **British/Irish passport + Jersey Registration Card** - **EU + EEA passports with settled or pre-settled status or Swiss passports + Jersey Registration Card**** ## Foreign Nationals - **Valid passport + Jersey Registration Card (JRC)** - **Valid passport + work permit** All of these documents can be uploaded securely through Zinc. ## Different statuses for the JRC ### Employment status definitions and restrictions | Employment status | Definition | Restriction | | --- | --- | --- | | **Entitled** | Someone who has lived in Jersey for 10 years | Can work anywhere and doesn't need permission to be employed | | **Licensed** | Someone who is an 'essential employee' | Employer needs permission to employ a 'licensed' person | | **Entitled for work** | Someone who has lived in Jersey for 5 consecutive years immediately before the date the card is issued, or is married to, or in a civil partnership or enduring relationship with, someone who is Entitled, Licensed, or Entitled for work | Can work anywhere and doesn't need permission to be employed | | **Registered** | Someone who does not qualify under the other categories | Employer needs permission to employ a 'Registered' person |
